Learning Lamp holds discussion on workforce child care needs

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — The Learning Lamp wrapped up a round table discussion Tuesday morning. It was held at Pennsylvania Highlands Community College. The purpose of the discussion was to address child care needs in the work force. According to officials, more than a half-million children under the age of 6 are likely to need some type of child care as both parents work away from home. Park City-based US ski racers produce nude calendar to help raise funds

VAL D'ISERE, France (AP) — A group of American skiers are taking it all off in an effort to raise some money. Five female and six male ski racers have joined together to pose in a nude calendar they hope will help them overcome high costs — and scarce funding — on the professional ski tour. Called "Under the Suit: The Bodies of the Ski Team," the calendar features the skiers in naked action shots: Either on the slopes or mountain biking in Chile and New Zealand, or pumping iron at their local gym in Park City, Utah.

Punxsutawney man charged with girlfriend's murder in Jefferson County shooting case

2ND UPDATE |Jefferson Co., PA (WJAC) — A 20-year-old Punxsutawney man has been charged in the shooting death of his girlfriend in Jefferson County. State police have charged Dakota Greeley with criminal homicide, murder and terroristic threats. According to a probable-cause affidavit, Greeley shot and killed Trisha Renee Cole Thursday morning on Coyote Drive in Clover Township. At about 10:25 a.m. Thursday, police reportedly found Greeley near Coyote Drive where he fired two shots from his rifle, according to the affidavit.

Woman charged in fatal Altoona fire claims to be a 'witch' & 'Egyptian Goddess'

UPDATE | BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Authorities have released new details about what led to the arrest of an Altoona woman for her role in a fatal fire last February. On Tuesday, police filed a multitude of charges against 43-year-old Heather Evans, including multiple counts of murder and aggravated arson, for setting fire to an East 5th Ave. home on Feb. 15th, 2022. Investigators say the fire claimed the life of 75-year-old Mark Stewart, and also resulted in multiple firefighters being injured while battling the blaze.
