White House fetes Kenya with state dinner featuring sunset views, celebrity star power

WASHINGTON (AP) — Thursday's White House state dinner honoring Kenyan President William Ruto offered around 500 guests stunning D.C. views, a knockout menu, a dose of celebrity star power and even a little family drama. "I'm looking forward to having all the conversations,” Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar declared as she arrived, no doubt speaking for many a guest at one of the largest-ever White House state dinners. Country singer Brad Paisley showed up in his signature cowboy hat, and was wearing dual hats as both dinner guest and featured entertainer.

Corgis walk, run, and waddle at annual Corgi Beach Takeover day

SEASIDE, Ore. (KATU) — Hundreds of Corgis stormed the Oregon coast for their annual Corgi Beach Takeover on Saturday. The short-legged furry friends gathered at Seaside, Ore., in an event sponsored by the Oregon Humane Society. It was impossible to walk along the beach without seeing one of the cute dogs run by. Corgis and their owners participated in costume contests, raffles, and Corgi races. Corgi owners tell KATU News it was a quiet car ride home after how hard these pups played today.

Migration season for one bird breed is earlier than anticipated this season

More charges filed in Centre Co. drug investigation; State College man ID'd as ring leader

Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities say more criminal charges have been filed in connection to what police say was a large-scale drug ring operating in Centre County and surrounding areas. According to a recently released grand jury investigation, close to a dozen people were involved in the drug distribution network, including 46-year-old Larry David, of State College, who was identified as the head of the drug ring. Police initially arrested David in the spring of 2021, and say they found over 1,400 baggies of heroin in his car, but the investigation of David, and others, dates back to 2020.

The cartoons have been the holiday earworms of viewers across the Alleghenies for more than 60 years. The black and white films from the 1950's may look silly today. But in their time, they were top notch productions. ‘Suzy Snowflake’, and ‘Hardrock, Coco, and Joe’ were among the first movies to use stop motion animation, with the puppets placed photographed and moved for each frame of the film.
