Jurors dismissed in civil trial of ex-Bellwood-Antis coach convicted of child sex abuse

Blair Co., PA (WJAC) — Blair County court officials say the civil lawsuit involving former Bellwood-Antis wrestling coach Ryan Blazier is now expected to be settled outside of court after the jurors in the case were dismissed. The civil trial against Blazier and the Bellwood-Antis school district was expected to begin this week after a lawsuit was filed on behalf of one of Blazier's victims. The lawsuit argued that the school district shared responsibility for Blazier's actions for which he was later convicted of.

PennDOT issues announcement on Centre County construction project

PennDOT made a major announcement on a major road construction project in Centre County. As part of the ongoing process to determine the new path for Route 322 between Boalsburg and Potters Mills, PennDOT initially also included what it termed a “Route 45 connector project” to possibly direct more Route 322 traffic to Route 45. PennDOT now says the Route 45 connector idea is dropped. Instead, they'll spend $3 million on a separate study on upgrading Route 45 safety issues in Harris and Potter Townships.

Annual Toys for Tots drive raises donations in Johnstown Saturday

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — Organizers with Toys for Tots hosted a drive Saturday at the Masonic Temple in Johnstown. People could swing by and drop off their toys, which will be given to children in need throughout the area. Organizers say they're in need of donations this year more than ever. "The need is greater this year because we've had a challenging year in 2020. Less donations, both toys and money, and we've had greater requests.

Man, 19, shot inside PA movie theater dies; suspect sought

HAZLETON, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a man shot in a movie theater in eastern Pennsylvania over the weekend has died of his injuries and a suspect is being sought. State police in Luzerne County said the victim was struck by gunfire in the arcade/lobby of the Regal Cinema next to the Laurel Mall in Hazle Township at about 8:15 p.m. Saturday. He was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital Hazleton. Police said the shooter fled from the cinema and left the area.
