WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. (AP) — A western Pennsylvania amusement park announced new security measures Wednesday following a shooting that wounded three people, including two teenagers.
Kennywood Park officials said the measures would include more police, more security along perimeter fences, limits on bag sizes and masks covering faces, and require adult chaperones for all juveniles at all times during the park’s Phantom Fall Fest, scheduled to run until mid-October.
Park officials declined to discuss the investigation into the shooting shortly before 11 p.
ALTOONA --Two months after about 600 Pennsylvanians were laid off from unemployment offices, former Altoona office workers said the state of the unemployment system has gotten worse, and lawmakers said that recent complications have delayed discussions about a temporary fix.
"It's gotten a little scarier now because at first we had hope, but right now that hope has gone downhill," said Kara Cochran, one of those workers, said.
When the state Department of Labor and Industry closed three offices in December, the remaining offices absorbed their daily calls and filings.
Bedford County, PA (WJAC) — State police in Bedford County say a New Paris man is behind bars after he allegedly burglarized multiple storage units in the area, and police say two other men are facing charges for allegedly helping him.
Troopers say following an investigation last November, authorities have filed charges against 39-year-old Matthew Sabo.
Police say 29-year-old Kaleb Crawley and 33-year-old Dustin Kinser are also being charged after investigators say they admitted to helping Sabo break into the storage units.
University Park, PA (WJAC) — The Penn State Model Railroad Club had a display set up Thursday at the Hub on the University Park campus.
The student club has been at Penn State since 1955 but has been without a permanent home for the past five years.
Officials say renovations at Pennypacker Hall forced the club out, and they're currently working with the university to find a permanent place to show their trail models.
Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Cambria County say a Portage woman is behind bars following an investigation into allegations that she showed pornography videos to two juveniles.
Police say in October, officers with the Portage Borough Police Department were contacted by the parents of the two juveniles, who claimed that 33-year-old Christina Aponte had allegedly showed pornography to their children.
