1 dies after small plane crashes into Florida building

FORT PIERCE, Fla. (WPEC) — One person died after a small plane crashed into a building in Florida, according to sheriff's authorities. Deputies said the crash occurred at 12:04 p.m. Thursday near Fort Pierce at the intersection of Sneed Road and Orange Avenue. The plane hit a building with an RV inside, according to the St. Lucie County Fire Rescue Department. No one was inside the building. Video taken at the crash site shows the damage left behind, rescue crews were still at the scene.

2 injured in Lawrence Twp house fire, investigation underway

LAWRENCE TWP, Pa (WJAC) — State police in Clearfield say two people suffered minor injuries following a house fire early Sunday morning in Lawrence Township, according to a news release. Troopers say the fire broke out around 6:30 a.m. Sunday, at a home located at 62 Palmer Street. The release adds that damage to the home was estimated at $150,000 and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

Ebensburg woman accused of having sexual relationship with inmate at SCI Somerset

Somerset Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities with the Department of Corrections say an Ebensburg woman is facing charges, accused of engaging in both a personal and sexual relationship with an inmate at SCI Somerset. Investigators say 60-year-old Laurie Semelsberger, who worked at the prison as a Psychological Services Associate, allegedly exchanged over 700 personal phone calls with the inmate from January to August of this year. Authorities say further investigation revealed that some of those phone calls were sexual in nature, and that Semelsberger allegedly discussed intimate, personal details about her family, vacationing and employment history.

BETHEL TOWNSHIP, PA. (WJAC) — Authorities with the Pennsylvania Game Commission say they are investigating the illegal killing of a Virginia opossum, in Armstrong County, after the animal was reportedly found hanging from a tree with a "noose" around its neck. Investigators say the animal was found along Pine Hollow Road, in Ford City, Bethel Township, on Friday, Dec. 29. The state game warden is investigating the incident, according to aFacebook post.

Zelenskyy postpones all upcoming foreign visits as Ukraine faces a new Russian offensive

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy postponed all his upcoming foreign trips as Ukraine's army battled to contain a front-line push by the Kremlin's forces, as U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday visited a drone manufacturing facility in Kyiv on the second day of a visit meant to reassure Ukrainians of continuing American support. Zelenskyy canceled all foreign visits "that were planned for the coming days," his office said Wednesday on Telegram.
