Suspended Dubois City Manager Herm Suplizio has officially been fired.
During a reorganizational meeting Tuesday afternoon, the Dubois City Council voted 3 to 2 to terminate Suplizio from the post.
Council members James Aughenbaugh and Shane Dietz cast the dissenting votes.
Suplizio faces a variety of charges related to the alleged embezzlement of more than half-a-million dollars from the city.
In November, Suplizio and a fellow city employee were federally indicted following an investigation into allegations that the two conspired to steal hundreds of thousands of dollars from city funds.
HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. (WJAC) -- The Hollidaysburg Public Works Department collects around 20 water from homes in the borough every three years. Several samples collected last year brought back some high numbers.
“I’ve been here 19 years and we’ve never had high lead levels in any of our water systems, so I was a little surprise to us,” said Rick Pope, Hollidaysburg Borough director of public works.
Pope said three water samples, taken in the third quarter of 2019, showed high amounts of lead.
Reynoldsville, PA — Cherish Creamery in Reynoldsville produces goat cheese and drinkable yogurt. Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, officials said business slowed down and they laid off all of their employees.
Paula Keswick, Manager of Cherish Creamery, said in order for people to know how good goat cheese is, customers have to taste it.
Customers get that opportunity at wine events and Amish markets but with the spread of the coronavirus, those events were cancelled.
2nd UPDATE:CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — State police in Cambria County are providing new details about what led to Sunday's "emergency situation" at a residence in Portage.
Investigators say troopers were called to the home, located along Dulancey Drive, around 11 a.m. for a report of a shooting.
Police say the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Cody Anderson, had reportedly barricaded himself inside the home following an altercation with the juvenile victim.
PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. — Groundhog Day is two days away and those in Jefferson County have been busy preparing.
Workers at Shop 'n Save in Punxsutawney have been baking groundhog cookies since the beginning of the year.
"It's been hard to keep up and keep the table full because we sell so many of them," said Bakery Manager Karen Love. "Once we start making groundhog cookies, that's what is selling."
Love said for the last 20 years, the store has been making cookies as part of the town's celebration.
