Altoona woman charged for leaving toddler in running vehicle while shopping

An Altoona woman has been charged after police say a toddler was left in a hot vehicle. According to a probable-cause affidavit, at about 5 p.m. Friday, 28-year-old Anna Stern entered a Dollar General store along North 4th Avenue in Altoona and left the toddler in the vehicle. While she was shopping, a man had entered the store and was shouting for whoever left the child in the vehicle. According to the affidavit, after Stern spoke with the man, she chose items from her shopping cart that she deemed more important, and then headed to the checkout.

Clearfield Co. DA says his office will not prosecute those who violate school mask mandate

CLEARFIELD CO, Pa (WJAC) — The Clearfield County District Attorney's office is joining other District Attorneys across the commonwealth in announcing that it will not prosecute those who violate the Wolf Administration's school mask mandate, which went into effect on Tuesday, Sept. 7. Clearfield County District Attorney Ryan Sayers released a statement Wednesday afternoon that his office will not criminally prosecute those who violate the statewide mandate. Blair County District Attorney Pete Weeks and the York County District Attorney's office also announced this week that they too will not prosecute violators of the mandate.
