RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WJAC) — A grassroots effort to get a new ice rink for suburban Johnstown is in the works. Monday night was the first working session for an ad-hoc committee of the Richland School District's board. The goal was to learn more details and get questions answered about a potential addition to East Hills Recreation. "The school district owns the property that East Hills sits on and leases the building back to East Hills recreation, so the proposed site would be part of the Richland School District property,"

EUCLID, Ohio (WSYX) — Authorities in Cuyahoga County say a man accused of shooting and killing a police officer in Euclid on Saturday night is dead. Police responded to a call about a disturbance in the Cleveland suburb just after 9 p.m. on Saturday. An officer who was later identified as Jacob Derbin was shot in the incident and later died. Authorities began searching for the suspect in the case; 24-year-old Deshawn Anthony Vaughn.

After welcoming two baby groundhogs in March, Punxsutawney Phil and wife, Phyllis, have announced the names of their children Sunday morning. In an Instagram post by the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club, members of the Inner Circle gathered to announce the names of the boy and girl groundhogs. Inner Circle members said in the post that they wanted to thank the community for their input and support in giving name suggestions for the pups.

JOHNSTOWN -- Rickie Fowler arrived at Sunnehanna Country Club in 2007 as a skinny golf prodigy out of Oklahoma State who could hit the ball a country mile, and instantly became a crowd favorite. Fowler won in his debut at 8-under par, and vowed to return the following year to make a run at following in the footsteps of fellow Oklahoma State Cowboy Scott Verplank who was the last to repeat in the Amateur Tournament of Champions.

State College, PA (WJAC) — The Pennsylvania Special Olympics summer games, which were set to start Thursday in Centre County, were canceled just as teams from across the state began to arrive. Organizers of the event said the poor air quality forced them to stop all activities for the weekend. The health and safety of all event participants is our highest priority, and this decision was not made lightly as we know how much time and effort was invested in preparing for this event.
