Centre County to raise pay for govt. employees

CENTRE CO., Pa. (WJAC) — Centre County Commissioners approved a plan Thursday to raise salaries of county government employees. 6 News spoke with one of the commissioners about this. As the cost of living rises in Centre County and other parts of the country, Commissioner Michael Pipe told 6 News he hopes this will make county government jobs more competitive. Missouri lawmaker's daughter, son-in-law killed in horrifying Haitian gang attack

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (TND) — Missouri state Rep. Ben Baker, R-Neosho, said Friday his daughter and her husband were killed during a mission trip to Haiti. Rep. Baker wrote in a Facebook post that Davy and Natalie Lloyd were both killed during an attack by a Haitian gang. The couple was working on behalf of Missions In Haiti, an Oklahoma-based Christian organization, which reports a third missionary named Jude was also killed during the ambush.

One taken into custody as pro-Palestine protestors rally near office of GWU president

WASHINGTON (7News) — A Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) source told 7News the protestor who was arrested overnight Friday after pro-Palestinian demonstrators took to the streets in Northwest self-identified as a George Washington University student. A university spokesperson would not confirm whether the 19-year-old from New Jersey is a student. GWU students are holding a news conference to address the ongoing protests. Penn State WR Parker Washington to miss remainder of season with injury

University Park, PA (WJAC) — The Penn State Nittany Lions will be without their top receiver for the remainder of the season. Head Coach James Franklin announced Tuesday that Parker Washington will miss the Nittany Lions' regular season finale, and soon-to-be-determined bowl game, with an undisclosed injury. Washington did not travel with the team this past weekend to Rutgers. While he is eligible to declare for next season's NFL Draft, it is unclear whether or not he will return to Penn State for another year.

POASD Votes to Push Back School Start time

PHILIPSBURG, Pa — The Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District is looking at a change for next school year. Tonight, the school board voted for the schools’ start times to get pushed back. The school district says the need for change comes with the best interest of the students in mind. Board members say research has shown that later start times for students are better because they are able to get an extra 40 minutes of sleep.
